AL Catch Weight Management extends Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to support accurate invoicing and costing for catch-weight products — without breaking the standard BC logic. (See screenshot: Item Card – Calculation Unit of Measure).
The solution introduces three new concepts to each transaction line: Accounting UOM, Accounting Quantity, and Accounting Price. These fields allow you to manage operations using the standard BC Handling UOM (e.g., pieces, packages) while automatically calculating prices and costs based on the actual weight of products sold or managed by weight. AL Catch Weight Management works seamlessly across sales, purchase, transfer, production, and inventory transactions, and stores weight data in a dedicated Weight Ledger Entry linked to standard Item Ledger Entries for full audit and reporting. (See screenshot: Weight Ledger Entries).
When combined with AL Tracking, the weighing process can also assign all relevant traceability dimensions (lot, package, pallet, serial, and external lot) automatically. (See screenshot: Weigh & Assign Function).
